In this 4 hour hands-on demo, Adam Field and Mr. Moon will walk participants down two parallel roads together exploring two iconic historical Korean pottery forms. The moon jar will be represented and taught by Mr. Moon, and the Onggi Jar taught by Adam Field - focusing on the development of the Onggie form with a breakdown of the proportions, functions, and methods for achieving the form using wheel throwing techniques.
Once the demo of this side by side comparison/contrast of these two subtle yet distinctly different forms is completed, participants will have the opportunity to try it out themselves under the guidance of both Adam Field and Moon.
Please note: All events will be spoken in Korean and translated to English by Miki Shim -

About
Adam Field
“I am fascinated with antique artifacts, the way they can speak of mastery of lost peoples, places, and cultures. This inspires me to create works that both radiate history and capture my own place and time. I work toward a clean aesthetic that celebrates the masterful simplicity of ancient pottery, while retaining the modest utility of early American functional wares. The surface of my pottery is meticulously carved with intricate designs that are inspired by nature and incorporate the human touch. Much of the carving on my work is informed by the pattern languages found in historical artifacts from around the world.”
