This event will build on exploring complex techniques to enhance clay surfaces using mason stains, drawn templates, slab formations, mid-range glaze application, and much more throughout the six hour artist talk and demonstration. Didem will also demonstrate how she creates ceramic jewelry out of clay that would typically be disposed of during the making process.
Weekend Package
$350
Saturday & Sunday, January 29th - 30th
10am to 5pm
This package includes a combination of the artist talk + demonstration with Didem Mert on Saturday plus a hands-on workshop the following day on Sunday. Participants will need to bring a tool kit, a hand-towel, and 2 bisqued forms within 8” x 8” by 8”. Attendees will begin with hand-building cup forms using soft slab construction, followed by experimenting with colored porcelain and mixing colors together. After exploring slab construction and colored porcelain, participants will have the opportunity to glaze their bisque pieces with Didem. The subject matter for the hands-on portion also includes use of terra sigillata, using stencils, underglaze application, and more.
Food and drinks will be provided on both days.
