Workshop with Biliana Popova

In this single day hands-on workshop, participants will work with Biliana on creating figurative and sculptural works of art using the hand-building process. Biliana will start the workshop with a presentation and demonstration where she will share a variety of techniques she uses in her own practice.

10am to 5pm

This package includes an informative presentation and live demonstration from Biliana Popova. You will learn about her unique thought processes and techniques throughout the day. The majority of the workshop will be spent working side by side with hands-on instruction. Biliana will also demonstrate a variety of hand-building techniques that participants will be able to utilize in their own practice. Techniques include slab construction, coil-building, pinching, surface enrichment, and more.

25 pounds of clay and firing will be part of the package. All pieces members make during the workshop will not be deducted from their monthly allotment of inches. Participants will need to bring their own tools and a hand-towel.

Food and drinks will be provided.


As this is an indoor event, proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be required to ensure everyone’s safety and peace of mind.
All health and safety protocols will be strictly followed.

About Biliana Popova

Biliana Popova is a Los Angeles-based ceramic artist; In addition to her studio work, she is currently an adjunct professor at Glendale Community College teaching beginning and intermediate hand-building ceramics and full time ceramics teacher at Flintridge Prep School in La Canada, CA. She holds a Masters in Ceramics from the National Art Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria. In 2013, she received first place in the juried American Museum of Ceramic Art (AMOCA) Ceramic Biennial in Pomona. Her work is now included in the permanent collection at AMOCA. Her work was selected by the Art Museum Council of LACMA and featured at their 2012 Art + Architecture Tour as a special project. She was also the cover featured artist on “500 Figures in Clay,” Lark Books in 2014.
